Cobalite ® 601

Description
Cobalite ® 601 is a pre-alloyed powder with a chemical composition of 10% Co / 20% Cu / 70% Fe. The mechanical properties are very similar to those of Cobalt EFP. The low cobalt content ensures a cost effective alternative to cobalt powders. The alloy benefits from a good oxidation resistance, is relatively free flowing and exhibits ease of cold handling and cold compaction.

Sintering (Sintering Charts)
The pure powder is sintered in a standard hot press in a temperature range of 750 - 850°C, although it can be sintered up to 950°C without any significant changes in the microstructure. (SEM Cobalite ® 601 microstructure) It should be noted that Cobalite ® 601 is usually sintered in combination with other elements (e.g. Fe, W, WC and bronze) to optimise the bond’s mechanical and wear properties for the application. Typical applications
Cobalite ® 601 is proving itself extremely universal, being used in almost every application where cobalt based bond systems are being employed. Wet and dry sawing and grinding of stone (granite and marble), concrete and asphalt in sizes ranging from 230 mm to more than 2 meters in diameter are typical applications.
