Umicore is the leading supplier of cobalt and pre-alloyed powders to the diamond tool industry.

Consistently reliable quality and service together with a dedicated programme of application related research are the key features which allow us to offer a full range of easy to use bond powders offering excellent strength and impact resistance as shown in the chart below.

Cobalite® 601 / Cobalite® 801 Low cobalt content pre-alloyed powders that have been designed to offer a cost effective alternative to cobalt based bonds. Good oxidation resistance, ease of cold compaction as well as excellent compatibility with other metallic elements gives great flexibility for optimisation of a specific application. Typical sintering temperatures are in the range of 750 - 850°C. An increasing range of proven applications are witness to Cobalite ®’s suitability in all major stone and concrete sawing, grinding and polishing applications.

Cobalt HMP (Half MicronPowder) This cobalt powder has an exceptionally high sintering reactivity and high hardness levels.

Cobalt SMS (Sub Micron Size) The optimal sintering temperature is 770°C leading to both high hardness and toughness. The particle shape and size of the SMS Powder are major factors in contributing to its excellent mixing and green strength qualities.

Cobalt EFP (Extra Fine Powder ) Cobalt EFP has become known as the industry standard. It is slightly coarser than Cobalt SMS, however it shares similar particle shape characteristics which contribute to the same useful mixing and cold compaction properties. The optimal sintering temperature for EF is 820°C, giving good hardness and excellent impact resistance properties.

Cobalt 400MP / (Mesh Powder) Mesh Powders exist in both 100 mesh and 400 mesh sizes. These powders are typically sintered at temperature ranges of 850 to 950°C.
