Umicore has recently announced its intention to take a stake in Picogiga -a French thin film specialist listed on the Nouveau Marché in Paris- upon successful restructuring of its existing financial debt; Picogiga's care business is growing epitaxial layers on compound semiconductors substrates.
Umicore's 5.5 million Euro investment remained subject to certain conditions. In view of the non-fulfilment of these conditions, Umicore has decided not to proceeded with the proposed investment, in full conformity with the terms of the agreement between the parties concerned.
